A Short Story

After burying his mother, Murphy fights depression and struggles with the realization that he is now alone. Meanwhile, he is constantly harassed by a wall clock that mocks his self worth. Going to the local sports bar to drink away his troubles, he meets an interesting gentleman that helps him change his perspective.



I was confronted with loneliness and reminded that I was by myself. There was no one left. All that remained were the shadows in my mind, the shadows of times past. There was nobody to love me and nobody to love. "Why do I exist? Am I a cruel joke that God made to enter into a world of suffering?"


The clock on the wall continued to mock me with every tick:


Murphy, Murphy, Murphy...
